TRANSMITTING NETWORK IP ADDRESS IN PSTN CHANNEL

A method is provided for a first device to exchange network addresses with a second device over a public switched telephone network (PSTN). The method includes the first device calling the second device, the second device answering the call from the first device, the second device transmitting a handshake request in dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) codes to the first device, the first device transmitting a first handshake acknowledgement in DTMF codes to the second device, the second device transmitting a first network address in DTMF codes to the first device, the first device transmitting a second network address in DTMF codes to the second device, and the second device transmitting a second handshake acknowledgement in DTMF codes to the first device.
