<p>Disclosed is a thermosetting coating resin composition which contains, as a resin component in a coating composition for forming a coating film, a material capable of forming a specific acrylic thermoset coating film. Consequently, the thermosetting coating resin composition enables formation of a coating film which has higher abrasion resistance and better appearance, especially higher abrasion resistance and higher contamination resistance after weather resistance test, than conventional UV cured coating films, silicon-based coating films and urethane-based acrylic thermoset coating films, while maintaining sulfurous acid resistance and weather resistance. Specifically disclosed is an acrylic copolymer (A) for thermosetting coating resin compositions, which contains a monomer unit (a) represented by formula (1), a secondary hydroxyl group-containing polyoxyalkylene mono(meth)acrylate monomer unit (b), and an isobornyl(meth)acrylate monomer unit (c). In the acrylic copolymer (A), the content (by mass) of the monomer unit (a) is larger than the content of the monomer unit (b).
