<p>A signal processing device capable of obtaining a desired compression effect even with an audio signal having a small input level, and inhibiting an output level from going beyond a maximum value without having acoustic distortion to stand out. The signal processing device comprises a frequency band division circuit (3) for dividing an audio signal into a plurality of frequency bands, a compression means for compressing, by each of the frequency bands, a dynamic range of each of signal components resulted from the division by the frequency band division circuit (3), a frequency band synthesizing circuit (6) for synthesizing each of the signal components resulted from the compression by the compression means, and a clip circuit (7) for converting an amplitude level of an audio signal resulted from the synthesis by the frequency band synthesizing circuit (6) to a maximum value when the amplitude level is beyond the maximum value, and outputting it. The compression means comprises AGC circuits (4) for amplifying, with a given gain, the signal components resulted from the division by the frequency band division circuit (3) as well as adjusting the gain according to an input power, and compress circuits (5) for compressing the dynamic ranges of the signal components resulted from the process by the AGC circuits (4).</p> |
