<p>PURPOSE: A video transmission device using adaptive weighted error correction coding and multiple description coding functions is provided to differently apply weight of overheads of error correction codes for each description, and to determine descriptions to be transmitted according to states of transmission channels, thereby efficiently coping with video transmission errors. CONSTITUTION: A video transmission device(100) comprises as follows. Multiple description coding units(120,130) perform multiple description coding processes for video signals, and generate many correlation descriptions. Error correction coding units(140,150) perform error correction coding processes for the descriptions, and do not give the same error correction capabilities by putting weight to error correction capacities given to each description. A transmission channel switch(160) forms paths with many transmission channels to which the descriptions are to be transmitted. A channel exchange controller(170) controls the transmission channel switch(160) according to states of the transmission channels, and controls the formation of the paths.</p> |
