The braking system (1) has a master cylinder (4) connected to a brake pedal (2), and a high pressure accumulator (20) connected to an exhaust and inlet circuit for exhausting and inletting a brake fluid. A traction system (1.3) is connected to the accumulator and to a pump (36) of an external circuit (1.4) of the braking system, where the external circuit is independent of a hydraulic circuit. The traction system transmits hydraulic energy from the pump to the accumulator in order to store the energy in the accumulator. An independent claim is also included for a method for recuperating energy.
