Disclosed is a composite antenna that has good radiation characteristics and communication performance, and which can be used for both long-distance and short-distance communication. The composite antenna comprises: a long dipole antenna (15); an annular antenna (25) having two ends (26a, 26b) that face each other; and a connecting part (27) that connects the dipole antenna (15) with the point where the amplitude of the current flowing through the annular antenna (25) is largest. The dipole antenna (15) enables long-distance communication by using an electric field, and the annular antenna (25) enables short-distance communication using a magnetic field. The composite antenna has attached on the ends (26a, 26b) of the annular antenna (25) a wireless IC or a high-frequency module that includes a wireless IC, and can be used as a wireless IC device in a RFID system. |
