<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a built-in clock in accordance with the temperature that varies in dependence on various use conditions of an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: When a power supply is turned on (S1), a clock error correction value for a period of a normal operation is set to an RTC (S2), and the setting is continued to be used during the operation (S3). Upon the transition to energy-saving (S4), a clock error correction value for a period during energy-saving is set to the RTC (S5). Upon the transition from the period during energy-saving (S6) to the normal operation state (S7), it is changed to the setting of the clock error correction value for the period during normal operation (S2). During the energy-saving, the temperature is different from that during the normal operation because the power supply of a part of the apparatus is turned off.
