PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function, which is not supported by a prescribed specification, while maintaining the reproduction compatibility of a recording medium in a device which conforms to the prescribed specification such as an AVCHD specification. SOLUTION: For example, an optical disk device which drives an optical disk 21 which does not violate an AVCHD specification determines whether the optical disk 21 is an optical disk 21 to which binding unit data used for construction of an imaginary virtual recording medium (virtual package) can be applied. If the optical disk 21 is a recording medium to which the binding unit data are applicable, the optical disk device binds data recorded to the optical disk 21 with the binding unit data to construct the virtual package. The binding unit data includes programs violating the AVCHD specification, such as a Java (R) program.
