PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reproducing device and a data reproducing method capable of easily reducing a time required until stable reproduction can be performed after seeking. SOLUTION: The data reproducing device 10 includes a frequency error detector 21, a phase comparator 22, a loop filter 23 as a filter means, a multiplier 31, a first converter 32 for converting a value of the multiplier 31 into a first converted value, a second converter 33 for converting the value of the multiplier 31 into a second converted value, a first conversion table 34, a second conversion table 35, a first D/A converter (DAC) 36, a second D/A converter (DAC) 37, a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) 38, and a prediction table 41. The first conversion table 34 stores the value of the multiplier 31 and the first converted value in association with each other, taking characteristics of the VCO 38 into consideration. Also, the second conversion table stores the value of the multiplier 31 and the second converted value in association with each other, taking the characteristic of the VCO 38 into consideration.
