PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve positioning accuracy more than a conventional linear feedback controller in positioning control of a magnetic disk device. SOLUTION: The positioning control system includes a head moving means for moving a head performing recoding and reproducing information for a disk which can record information, a position detecting means for detecting a position of the head, an error detecting means for detecting an error of a detected head position for a target position given previously as a position error signal, a compensation control part for generating a control input by performing phase lead compensation and phase lag compensation of the position error signal and for giving the control input to the head moving means, and a gain control part for controlling at least one side out of gain of the phase lead compensation gain and the phase lag compensation gain based on a frequency component included in the position error signal and amplitude of the position error signal.
