PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To diagnose accurately a failure of a sensor for detecting vibration of a recording device. SOLUTION: This diagnosis device is equipped with a vibration generation instructing part 201, provided inside the recording device for generating vibration, by making a movable part movable inside the recording device; a failure determining part 204 for determining whether a value relative to a vibration quantity output from the sensor detecting vibration generated in the recording device by the vibration generation instruction part 201 lies within a prescribed range; and a determination result output part 205 for outputting the result determined by the failure determining part 204.
