PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion state detection device that has solved a concern of falling into shortage of charging amount, in a combustion state detection device of self-charging type, and to provide an ignition control system. SOLUTION: A combustion state detection device includes an ion current detection circuit (ion current detection means), applied to an internal combustion engine capable of switching between a self-firing operating mode for subjecting a premixed fuel/air mixture to compression self-firing, an ignition operating mode for subjecting fuel/air mixture to ignition with ignition plug, for self-charging a part of electric power supplied from the secondary side of ignition coil to the ignition plug to a capacitor (charging means), for applying voltage between the central electrode of the ignition plug and ground electrode using the capacitor as power supply, for detecting ion current which flows through both the electrodes along with the occurrence of fire in a combustion chamber. During the ignition operating mode, the device executes a normal ignition control (S20) for supplying electric power to the ignition plug so as to spark between both the electrodes, and during self-firing operating mode, executes a dummy ignition control (S30) for supplying electric power so as to charge the capacitor.
