PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat reclining apparatus for a vehicle which restraints a malfunction that may occur when a reclining lock mechanism and a reclining memory mechanism are simultaneously operated. SOLUTION: This seat reclining apparatus for a vehicle includes a lower plate 1 mounted on a lower frame 1d, a gear plate 2 rotatably supported by the lower plate, an upper frame 1c rotatably supported by the lower frame via the gear plate and the lower plate and being relatively rotatable with respect to the gear plate, the reclining lock mechanism 4 permitting and restricting a relative rotation of the gear plate to the lower plate, the reclining memory mechanism 9 permitting and restricting a relative rotation of the upper frame to the gear plate, and a stopper member 8 swingably supported by the lower frame, frictionally engageable with the ratchet plate 3, and apply a resistance force to the relative rotation of the gear plate to the lower plate.
