PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an awakening degree estimating apparatus for highly accurately estimating an awakening degree. SOLUTION: The awakening degree estimating apparatus 1 includes: a parameter setting means 22 for setting the combination of parameters when estimating the awakening degree on the basis of a reference group composed of the data of the respective parameters relating to the awakening degree stored in a storage means 21; a model preparation means 23 for preparing a plurality of reference models from the data of the respective parameters relating the awakening degree stored in the storage means 21 using only the parameters of the set combination; model selection means 35a and 35b for selecting the reference model for estimating the awakening degree from the plurality of prepared reference models; and an estimation means 35c for using only the parameters of the set combination, referring to the selected reference model, and estimating the awakening degree corresponding to the observation values of the respective parameters relating to the awakening degree acquired in observation value acquisition means 30, 31 and 32.
