<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle engine control device and method enabling to shorten a time for the revolving speed of an engine to reside in a resonance-band rotating speed region during stopping the engine. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle engine control device comprises a clutch control means for outputting a clutch connecting command or a clutch releasing command depending on an engine driving condition to put a clutch which is mounted in a driving force transmission passage between the engine and an rotation driving actuator for transmitting driving force thereto, into a connecting condition or into a releasing condition, respectively. When receiving a drive stopping request for the engine, it outputs the clutch releasing command when the clutch is in the connecting condition. Then, it outputs the clutch connecting command in the state that the rotating speed of the actuator is lower than a upper limit value for the rotating speed region in a resonance band to be found in accordance with at least the natural frequency of the engine and lower than the revolving speed of the engine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
