PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant improved in the solubility of a polar additive into an alkylcyclopentane oil. SOLUTION: The lubricant is prepared by adding a crown ether to a lubricant composition containing an alkylcyclopentane oil and a polar additive in a ratio of 0.1-10 mole to 1 mole of the polar additive.
