PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid injection apparatus capable of storing liquid up as far as an upper storage limit of a waste liquid tank and accurately measuring a total amount of the liquid. SOLUTION: The liquid ejecting apparatus is provided with a container 43 having a liquid holding part 43b storing a liquid sucked or ejected from a liquid ejecting head 32, a heat source 46 for applying heat to the liquid holding part 43b, a temperature detecting means 47 detecting temperature change in the liquid holding part 43b, and a waste liquid calculating means 51b calculating an amount of the liquid remaining in the liquid holding part 43b on the basis of temperature detection at the temperature detecting means 47.
