PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the propriety of the shaping of sheared edges can have been only insufficiently determined in terms of accuracy by a conventional method. SOLUTION: The propriety of shaping is determined by the use of a shapable region determined by relating a strain gradient in the vicinity of the sheared edge 2 of a pressed article 1 to a deformation limit. The relation between the strain gradient and the deformation limit is acquired by a hole-enlarging experiment while variously changing an initial hole diameter and the shape of a punch in a hole-enlarging test method. As the distortion gradient increases, the deformation limit increases. By this, accuracy in the determination of the propriety of shaping is substantially improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
