<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material which is a material for a probe pin requiring further miniaturizing, while being put in harsh use environments and meets these requirements. <P>SOLUTION: A wire for a probe pin is provided which is made of 1 to 1000 ppm additive elements, comprising at least any one of zirconium, aluminum, and copper, and from remnant iridium. Preferably, the additive elements make up 3 to 600 ppm, and more preferably, 5 to 400 ppm.
