摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting device which can minimize an attachment tolerance of an object having magnetism to be detected, a magnetoresistive element, and a bias magnet to reduce an error in detecting a position of the object. SOLUTION: A shift lever device (position detecting device) 1 includes a shift lever 2 (counter magnet 2a), a guiding rail member 9 which guides the lever 2 to correctly meet a gate pattern, an MRE element which detects a direction of magnetic flux entered from an exterior, a circuit board 5 to which the element is attached, bias magnets 101-103 which infer a bias magnetic field to the MRE element, and a controller which is formed of the lever 2 and the bias magnets 101-103 and which detects a position of the lever 2 based on the direction of the magnetic flux detected by the element. The bias magnets 101-103 are secured to the guiding rail member 9 to identify positional relationship with the lever 2, and the member 9 is secured to the circuit board 5 on the condition that the bias magnets 101-103 are positioned to the MRE element.
