PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anthracene derivative which is useful as a material for an organic EL element, can be formed into a film by vapor deposition and by coating, and exhibits a high glass transition temperature. SOLUTION: Provided is 9,10-bisphenylanthracene derivative having at least one aromatic heterocyclic group represented by general formula [3], as a substituent of a phenyl group and an anthracenylene group.
