PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a heteroacene derivative which has excellent oxidation resistance and can form a semiconductor-active phase by a coating method. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a heteroacene derivative represented by general formula (1a), the method is characterized by tetra-metalizing a tetrahaloterphenyl derivative represented by general formula (2a) with a metalizing agent in a dialkyl ether and then reacting with reactants represented by general formulae (3a): (R<SP>3</SP>)<SB>l</SB>T<SP>1</SP>(L<SP>1</SP>)<SB>p</SB>and (4a): (R<SP>4</SP>)<SB>m</SB>T<SP>2</SP>(L<SP>2</SP>)<SB>q</SB>. Further, the method for producing a heteroacene derivative represented by general formula (1b) is characterized by tetra-metalizing a tetrahaloterphenyl derivative represented by general formula (2b) with a metalizing agent in a dialkyl ether and then reacting with reactants represented by general formulae (3b): (R<SP>10</SP>)<SB>v</SB>T<SP>3</SP>(L<SP>3</SP>)<SB>x</SB>and (4b): (R<SP>11</SP>)<SB>w</SB>T<SP>4</SP>(L<SP>4</SP>)<SB>y</SB>.
