PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ad hoc communication method in which choices for communication routes from a transmission source terminal to a transmission destination terminal are expanded and an excessive load is not given to a backbone, and to provide a base station and a terminal. SOLUTION: In the ad hoc communication method for dynamically determining a communication route from a PHS terminal 110A being a transmission source to a PHS terminal 110E being a transmission destination and performing communication, another wireless communicable PHS terminal or an optional base station (for example, base station 120B) is selected as the next node of an optional terminal (for example, terminal 110B) on the communication route, and a base station 120C can be selected as the next node of an optional base station (for example, base station 120B) on the communication route, which can wirelessly communicate with the PHS terminal 110E connected wiredly to a wirelessly communicable PHS terminal 110D, another base station 120C, or the base station 120B by the backbone 150.
