PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost and low-loss electric power converter capable of performing soft switching in bidirectional operations. SOLUTION: In the electric power converter, a capacitor 31 is connected, in parallel with a first switching element 15, to a series circuit consisting of a diode 7, a primary winding of a transformer 22 and a third switching element 17; and a capacitor 71 is connected in parallel with a second switching element 18 to a series circuit consisting of a fourth switching element 20, the primary winding of the transformer 22 and a diode 13. Furthermore, a series circuit consisting of a diode 10 and the secondary winding of the transformer 22 is connected, in parallel with the primary winding of the transformer to a voltage clamp means 30 between DC output terminals and enables bidirectional power conversion.
