PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a web roll, including a process of heating the web, capable of strongly enlarging its width, while preventing heat shrinkage of the web, and avoiding meandering of the web. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a web roll comprises a process of heating the web, and a process of taking up the web into a roll. The method comprises: a distortion providing process of preliminarily providing the web with a distortion by means of a set of cloth guiders, constituted of a pair of roller groups for holding the width end parts of the web, in such a way that outer circumferential parts of at least one side roller of the roller groups which abuts against the web get, in contact with the web along the entire axial length; and a process of heating the web, immediately thereafter.
