PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of realizing a superior operating stability, improving safety in a super-high performance tire, and preventing a reduction in durability more effectively. SOLUTION: Double chord reinforcing layers 10, 11 are overlapped to each other and arranged at outside portions of carcass plies 6a, 6b at a buttress part 4 acting as a transition area ranging from a tread part 1 to a side wall part 2. An angleαformed between a chord of an inner ply side chord reinforcing ply 9 and a ply chord of the outer-most carcass ply 6b adjacent to the inner ply side chord reinforcing ply 9 is made to be smaller than an angleβformed between a ply chord of the outer-most ply side chord reinforcing ply 11 and the ply chord. At the same time inner and outer end portions of the outer ply side chord reinforcing ply 11 in a tire radial direction are positioned adjacent to the outer-most carcass ply 6b over the inner ply side chord reinforcing ply 10.
