PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide trimming abnormality detection method and device for a metal band for monitoring situation of chopping and detecting its abnormality as early as possible. SOLUTION: In this method, frequency of the generation of chips is actually measured by a detection sensor when carrying out the chips caused by cutting trimming scraps by predetermined length sequentially and is inferred based on conveyance speed of the metal band and the length of cut chips. The frequency of the generation of chips measured actually by the detection sensor is compared with the inferred frequency of the generation of chips. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
