PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric kettle capable of adjusting the boiling time. SOLUTION: The electric kettle has a container 1 for housing liquid, a heating unit 2 for heating the container 1, a temperature detection unit 3 for detecting the temperature of the liquid inside the container 1, a control unit 5 for determining that the liquid is boiled when the time required for the temperature of the liquid inside the container 1 to rise for a prescribed temperature becomes equal to or more than a first prescribed value, and a re-boiling unit 4 for boiling the liquid under heat insulation inside the container 1 again. Only when the re-boiling unit 4 is operated, the control unit 5 determines that the liquid is boiled when the time is equal to or more than a second prescribed value smaller than the first prescribed value. When boiling the liquid by the re-boiling unit 4 from the heat insulation, since it is determined that the liquid is boiled at such timing that the temperature rising time during boiling is short, the boiling time after steam actually begins to appear until heating is stopped is shortened, and power consumption required for boiling water is suppressed.
