PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve intake air distribution performances to each cylinder and each independent intake air passage 17 of a plurality of intake air branch pipes 4 of an in-line four cylinder engine. SOLUTION: In an intake device for the in-line four cylinder engine, the channel width of a second channel 42 formed between another side surface of a cylindrical protrusion 9 projecting toward an inside of a bent part 13 of an intake air lead in channel 7 and a wall surface (including a protruded surface 32) on bending direction inside of the bent part 13 is narrower than the channel width of a first channel 41 formed between one side surface of the cylindrical protrusion 9 and a wall surface (including a recessed surface 31) on bending direction outside of the bent part 13. Consequently, the bias of flow of intake air led in to a surge tank part 5 from the bent part 13 of the intake air lead in channel 7 can be reduced, thereby air distribution performances to each cylinder and each independent intake air passage 17 of the plurality of intake air branch pipes 4 of the in-line four cylinder engine can be improved.
