PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent and a cleansing method, in cleansing various goods such as vehicles, with which quick and good detergency and a finishing state can be obtained without risk due to inflammability of the detergent and without corroding goods to be cleansed. SOLUTION: This detergent comprises, by mass, (I) 0.05-3.00% cationic surfactant and/or ampholytic surfactant, (II) 0.50-5.00% glycol ether whose water solubility is 20% by mass or lower and (III) 92.00-99.45% water.
