PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which presents stable image reading performance without incurring distortion or deformation by maintaining, in more simplified configuration, the strength of an image reading unit to which accurate positioning to an apparatus body is required. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 10 includes: an original platen on which an original is placed; an original cover; an image reading unit 40 for reading an original image; and an image forming unit 60 provided at a lower part of the image reading unit and fixed on a body frame 11. When providing a reinforcing member for reinforcing the body frame 11, a reinforcing member 1 is provided at an upper surface position corresponding to a size of the image reading unit 40 installed on the body frame 11, and the image reading unit 40 is installed on the reinforcing member 1.
