PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning device which detects the area of a slider without providing a projecting component on the surface or in the periphery of a platen. SOLUTION: The positioning device which moves the slider into a prescribed area on the platen includes: a sensor signal generation part which is buried in a side edge part of a face opposite to the platen of the slider and generates a sensor signal toward the platen; and a sensor signal detection part which is buried in a side edge part of the prescribed area of the platen and detects the sensor signal.
