PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of discoloration on a sliced veneer affected by iron contained in a base plate, in a decorative plate with the sliced veneer pasted on the base plate. SOLUTION: In the decorative plate with a woody sliced veneer pasted on a woody base plate, a coating liquid, containing an ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid(EDTA)-based or hydroxyethylidene bisphosphonic acid(HEDP)-based chelating agent, is coated on the sliced veneer. The coating liquid infiltrates between woody fibers or into woody fibers of the sliced veneer, thereby metals especially iron ions in the sliced veneer come into contact with the chelating agent in the coating liquid and react to be decolored. Also in case that the metals in the base plate intrude into the sliced veneer together with moisture, they come into contact with the chelating agent in the coating liquid impregnated in the sliced veneer and react to be decolored. Through such action, discoloration due to reaction of metals especially ion ions with phenolic components is prevented.
