<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance reliability in normal operation of a gate drive circuit for a thyristor provided in an instantaneous voltage drop compensator. <P>SOLUTION: The thyristor gate drive circuit for controlling the thyristors S1, S2 provided in an instantaneous voltage drop compensator is provided with photocouplers PC1, PC2 connected to a control power supply 3 on the primary side and connected in parallel with the thyristors S1, S2 on the secondary side. The thyristors S1, S2 are controlled as follows. When the thyristors S1, S2 are turned on, the photocouplers PC1, PC2 are turned off and a current output from a commercial power supply 1 is applied to the gates of the thyristors S1, S2. When the thyristors S1, S2 are turned off, the photocouplers PC1, PC2 are turned on and a current output from the commercial power supply 1 is prevented from being applied to the gates of the thyristors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
