<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of suppressing power that is uselessly consumed. <P>SOLUTION: An MFP 1 continues operation in a normal mode if the MFP 1 is connected to any of slave units (slave unit A, slave unit B, slave unit C and slave unit D) by wireless communication 300 in the case of shifting from the normal mode to a power-saving mode. When the power of all of the slave units 31 is turned off, the MFP 1 is shifted to the power-saving mode. Then, the slave units 31 can be prevented from performing outer area search even though the slave units 31 can not receive a synchronizing signal because the MFP 1 is shifted to the power-saving mode when the slave units 31 operate.
