<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing, inside a receiver, a data stream containing a compressed video component. <P>SOLUTION: A method for processing a data stream includes: detecting a packet containing a data component of a closed caption related to a video component; and extracting data of the closed caption from the detected packet containing the data component of the closed caption.
