<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a photoreceptor is appropriately polished, thereby preventing filming of foreign matter on the photoreceptor, which occurs with the lapse of time, and a developing means also serves as a cleaning means for cleaning off transfer residue toner, thereby achieving the formation of a stable image. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a developing means having first and second developer carriers provided with first and second magnetic field generating means respectively and used for developing an electrostatic latent image on an image carrier as a toner image; a transfer means for a toner image; an auxiliary electrifying member disposed downstream of a transfer position in the moving direction of the surface of the image carrier and upstream of the position of electrostatic latent image formation in the moving direction of the surface of the image carrier so as to be in contact with the image carrier, thereby charging transfer residue toner to the same polarity as a charging polarity. The developing means also serves as the cleaning means for cleaning off the transfer residue toner. At the position where the first developer carrier is opposite to the image carrier, the first magnetic field generating means of the image forming apparatus can change its magnetic force in the normal direction on the surface of the first developer carrier. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
