PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system for capturing a clear video image without troubling a user even when imaging a dark part. SOLUTION: When a desired video image level can not be obtained as a photographed video image signal even though the sensitivity of a high sensitivity camera 11 which automatically controls sensitivity is increased and even though an optical filer 22 is used for an IR filter that transmits near-infrared light, a CPU 28 turns on a near-infrared projector 12 to emit an amount of near-infrared light according to a preset light control mode. The light control mode includes at least one of a light projection amount adjusting mode for increasing/decreasing the amount of light projection so as to reach a preset desired video level, a light projection amount increasing mode for gradually increasing the amount of light projection which is less than the amount of light projection assumed to achieve the desired video level by a predetermined amount, and a maximum amount of light projection setting mode for setting the maximum amount of light projection and gradually decreasing the sensitivity in the high sensitivity camera 11.
