PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate optical adjustment and achieve a low cost and miniaturization of an apparatus in a tandem type image forming apparatus having a plurality of latent image carriers. SOLUTION: Two light beams are emitted from two light sources to be incident on a light scanning element 65. The light scanning element 65 includes a deflection mirror face 651 reflecting the two light beams by being swingably provided around a main scanning deflection axis and a switching axis, collectively scans the two light beams in a main scanning direction by swinging the deflection mirror face 651 in a resonant mode around the main scanning deflection axis, swings and positions the deflection face 651 in a non-resonant mode around the switching axis, and switches a photoreceptor irradiated with the scanning light beams in a plurality of the photoreceptors by guiding the two scanning light beams in a sub-scanning direction.
