PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an old person, a child and a disabled person to use an escalator more safely at ease without trouble. SOLUTION: The escalator 10 is provided with at least a floor panel at a get-on side of one of floor panels 12, 14 of get-on-and-off ports equipped with one of a detected part 44 and a detecting part 52, step boards 42 equipped with the other one of the detected part 44 and the detecting part 52 at each step board edge part which is in a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the step boards 42 and an announcing part for announcing when the detected part 44 comes close to a detecting part 52 as the step boards 42 move.
