<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for providing settlement service for allowing a user to confirm details of payment before settlement and to select a settlement method. <P>SOLUTION: In an electronic settlement system 1, a portable terminal device including a contactless IC card storing payment method identification information and balance data is connected to a payment settlement device having a contactless IC card reader by radio. The payment settlement device transmits data on the amount billed and a payment method reply request including communication channel information to the portable terminal device, and uses an established communication channel to settle the payment. The portable terminal device 100 receives the payment method reply request transmitted by a payment settlement device 200, prompts the user to select one of available payment method identification information stored in an IC card, transmits a request to establish a communication channel having the highest priority in the selected payment method identification information to the payment settlement device 200, and uses the established communication channel to transmit a payment method reply. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
