PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance an energy saving effect, and perform miniaturization and space saving in a sensor system for performing lighting control by a plurality of active sensors which transmit and receive electric waves to detect existence of a man, by reducing lighting errors caused by erroneous detection of the sensors. SOLUTION: This system 1 includes active sensor units 3a, 3b for transmitting and receiving the electric waves to detect the existence of the man, and illumination sections 4a, 4b for performing respective lighting control based on detection outputs of the sensor units 3a, 3b. The sensor units 3a, 3b are arranged respectively in the illumination sections 4a, 4b adjoining mutually, and are formed so that the polarization planes of individual electric waves transmitted from the transmitting and receiving antennas 51a, 51b of the individual sensor units 3a, 3b are perpendicular to each other. Consequently, along with enhancing the energy saving effect by reducing detection errors by the sensors on the occasion of receiving reflected waves of each other's electric waves, and preventing lighting errors occurring when no man exists, the miniaturization and space saving can be attained by arranging the illumination sections 4a, 4b closely.
