PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a layer 2 switch for a virtual LAN capable of stopping only communication of a virtual LAN where congestion occurs more simply and inexpensively. SOLUTION: The layer 2 switch for a virtual LAN 10 has a plurality of ports and transmits or receives traffic to or from a plurality of virtual LANs. Corresponding to traffic to a plurality of virtual LANs, the layer 2 switch has a pause control part 122 which transmits an extended pause frame 200b to stop transmission of data to the virtual LANs, and includes virtual LAN information to indicate a virtual LAN to which transmission of data into a reserved address 208 of a pause frame based on IEEE802.3x specification is stopped by the extended pause frame.
