PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel which detects the positions of two lens frames moved in an optical axis direction with high accuracy by effectively preventing interference between position detecting means, while reducing the overall device size. SOLUTION: The lens barrel includes: a first moving frame which holds a part of the lens group of a photographic optical system and moves it in the optical axis direction; a second moving frame; a first position detecting means which detects the position of the first moving frame in the optical axis direction; and a second position detecting means which detects the position of the second moving frame in the optical axis direction. Both the first and the second position detecting means include a light emitting element and a light receiving element which projects a luminous flux from the light emitting element onto a reflecting plate provided in a member for detecting a relative position and receives light reflected from the reflecting plate. The first and the second position detecting means are provided on the same substrate. A light shielding wall longer than the distance that the first or the second moving frame extending in the optical axis direction is moved in the optical axis direction is provided in the first or the second moving frame, between the first and the second position detecting means.
