PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator with reduced power consumption by a simple device. SOLUTION: In this refrigerator, for a compressor configuring a refrigerating cycle in which the maximum compression capacity of a specification mode used in correspondence with the size of each storage interior volume when the storage interior volume of a refrigerator body 1a is 400L (liters) or less reaches a maximum range exceeding a practical range, a compressor 3 having a specification mode of a compression capacity in which the maximum capacity falls within the refrigerating cycle of the practical range is used, and the compressor having a specification mode with small power consumption that does not interrupt cooling operation is adopted.
