The inductively operating sensor has a coil (2). A target (5) is a ferromagnetic molded body, where an appropriate driver circuit is provided for exciting the coil with a periodic signal and for evaluating a complex resistance of the coil with ferromagnetic molded body. The target is formed as float within the coil with ferromagnetic molded body for using as level sensor in a fluid container.
