METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IMPLEMENTING SEAMLESS PLAYBACK OF CONTINUOUS MEDIA FEEDS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for storing a continuous feed of video.

SOLUTION: Content data are stored in a group of smaller files 402-414. A subset of content data resulting from buffering each of the smaller files is stored. In an illustrated embodiment, each of the files 402-412 stores contents corresponding to two hours. The file 414 stores contents for one hour at present. The present insertion point is an end of the file 414. When the file 414 reaches contents for two hours, the file 414 is closed and a new content file is created. When the content file becomes old, an older content file is deleted and a disk space is secured for a new file. During playback, when content data are sent to a client, files are seamlessly connected by a video pump.
