PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a covered yarn capable of exhibiting required soft feeling when used for compression stockings, and to provide the compression stockings using the covered yarn. SOLUTION: The covered yarn is obtained using an elastic fiber having 30-80 dtex fineness as a core yarn of the covered yarn, and a fiber having 8-15 dtex fineness, 0.6-1.0 dtex single fiber fineness, and a cross section having 1.5-5.0 ovality and linear symmetry based on the major axis as a covering yarn.
