摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect, in a simple configuration, a quantity of meander of an intermediate transfer belt extended by a plurality of rollers. SOLUTION: An inclination roller 82 of truncated conical shape is freely rotatably supported by an inclination shaft 81 inclined by a predetermined angleθ(e.g., 45°). The inclination roller 82 is disposed so that in the position where the generatrix L on its peripheral face is the closest to the intermediate transfer belt 15, the generatrix L is parallel to the intermediate transfer belt 15. A film encoder 83 and a photo-interrupter 85 detect the number of the revolutions of the inclination roller 82. Projections 88 are formed on the back 15b of the end 15a of the intermediate transfer belt 15 along its entire circumference. If the intermediate transfer belt 15 meanders and the contact position of each projection 88 relative to the generatrix L changes, the number of the revolutions of the inclination roller 82 also changes.
