The coffin (1) has a coffin part with a coffin lower part (2) for accommodating a died creature, and a coffin upper part (3) for closing the part (2). The parts are made of material consisting of polymer mixture comprising thermoplastic polymer and fiber-based filler material. The coffin part is completable by end parts (5) of the parts (2, 3), where the end parts are connected with a box or tub-shaped profile body (4). The filler material is selected from the group consisting of wood flour, wood chips, cellulose, cut up natural fibers from wood, hemp, flax, sisal, corn, cotton or grass. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a coffin.
